There are few factors you have to consider before adding a Bengal cat to your household.
First and most important...
Bengal cats are somewhat expensive. Show and breeder quality (very few flaws) prices range between $1,500 and $3,000. Pet Bengals, depending on their quality or undesirable traits are sold for $500 to $1,400. Some may be sold for much less if they have significant imperfections.
If you enjoy unusual and distinctive personalities, a Bengal may be the perfect pet for you. Bengals are not couch potatoes, they are extremely energetic so it is important that you give them an active place in your family.
From my own experience I can tell you that Bengals are amazing cats who will light up your life with love and amusement. They are great athletes. My cat Anaaki loves to climb, she runs like a race horse and jumps like a pro. She is a little rocket propelled cat who speeds up around the house chasing our German Shepard.
Bengals behave much like dogs following you around the house and greeting you when you get home. My blue Bengal “Yanhi” actually mimics our dog Leila. It makes me smile when I see him taking possession of Leila’s favorite spot on top of the stairs assuming the same posture my dog has when she lies down there.
Another good reason to own a Bengal ...Research has suggested that Bengal cats are hypoallergenic, so they are less likely to produce allergies or allergic reactions in susceptible people. However, people that are allergic to cats should spend some time with a Bengal cat before they acquire one.
There are probably a million reasons why you would want to own a Bengal. You may want to have a pet, or you may want to breed or show your cat. Whatever your reason is don’t forget to consider your needs very carefully before purchasing a Bengal to make sure that you will obtain the right cat. Remember, you will have this companion for the next 10 to 15 years.
